With diverters fitted to some of your downpipes it is also possible to capture water while rain is falling and divert that to irrigate areas of your garden that are missed by your irrigation system or that don’t get wet even when it rains. This way enables you to use rainwater that would otherwise be lost to your stormwater pipes to water ferneries, potplants and areas under the eaves - or even top up your pool or spa. |

| What is greywater? |
| Grey water is the wastewater from the bathroom, laundry
and dishwasher but NOT from the toilet It contains levels of pathogenic micro-organisms so it must be treated with care. But grey water also contains nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium, which are mostly beneficial to plants - except for some native plants that have a low phosphorous tolerance. The best method of re-using grey water, without using expensive treatment and disinfection methods, is through sub-surface irrigation |
